A goddess of modern times is a woman who is happy, who feels beautiful and comfortable in her own body; a strong woman determined to live a passionate and exciting life. Issuing from a very ancient tradition, Kundalini yoga is one of the purest and most refined of all yoga systems. For a long time kept secret because of its immense power to transform, Kundalini Yoga was introduced in the western world in the 1970s by Yoga Bhajan (1929-2004). Rightly considered by many to be the oldest yoga practice in the world, Kundalini Yoga incorporates in the body of its techniques all forms of yoga, including the most popular system of yoga in the western world: Hatha yoga.

Kundalini Yoga is a complete science which comprises physical toning exercises through asanas (static and dynamic poses), breathing exercises (pranayama, which has very specific techniques), relaxation, meditation and sound (mantras). The psychological and physiological aspects of the individual are worked on through a specific process in order to improve the condition of the muscular, nervous and endocrine systems as well as that of blood chemistry and brain performance. Not only does the practice of this system of yoga energise the body, but it also helps the circulation of life energy, improves the immune system, stimulates the body’s self-healing abilities, helps mental rejuvenation and in general makes it easier to be grounded, attentive, joyful and optimistic.

At a more advanced level, it allows people to define their personal spirituality, to deepen their consciousness and to develop inner wisdom. Also known as the Yoga of Consciousness, Kundalini Yoga is very powerful in its effects; in this system, sessions are very carefully structured and planned, each one working on a particular theme. The techniques it provides are diverse and many, making it possible to stress some aspects more than others in order to work on the particular goals and aspirations of each person.

Its numerous beneficial effects help create a balance in the inner world of the goddess within you, awaking you to your own feminine power. One of the strengths of Kundalini Yoga being the possibility of matching particular exercises to a variety of themes, this discipline can be used as a means of developing the specific energy associated with the archetype of goddess of one’s choice. This way, through Kryas (sequences of exercises) and carefully chosen meditation techniques, you will gradually discern, befriend and interiorise the qualities carried in the archetype.
