About Sophie Terrasse - Founder of the Sunflower Institute Wellness Throught Art, Laughter and Yoga
Personally and professionally, Sophie Terrasse has always been passionate about helping those who suffer from communication or self-realization problems, whether these problems have biological, traumatic or emotional causes.
In parallel, Sophie has developed a keen interest in personal development disciplines and in philosophical and spiritual approaches to individual harmony and universal peace.
While pursuing a successful speech-language pathology practice, first in France and then in Canada, Sophie broadened her professional skills and therapeutic assets by mastering a range of innovative disciplines and time-proven techniques, which she successfully applies to help people afflicted with real life difficulties but also to guide anyone wishing to discover and develop their own inner strength, powers, joy and wisdom.
All this, combined with a taste for beauty and a confirmed talent for visual arts – drawing, collage, painting, multi-media – led her to create the Sunflower Institute, thus fulfilling a long-time dream: integrating and uniting, under a single concept, the new disciplines she has mastered and which are dear to her heart: Art Therapy, Sandplay Therapy, Kundalini Yoga, Laughter Yoga.
Art, yoga and laughter: for Sophie, these are effective and complementary tools to promote the physical, emotional and spiritual well-being of women, men and children. These tools she uses with passion and determination, all the more so because they also support the mission that underlies all her actions: promoting world peace and harmony.
Speech Language Pathologist in her previous career, Art Therapist, Sandplay Therapist, Certified Kundalini Yoga Teacher and Laughter Yoga Instructor, Sophie Terrasse currently carries professional memberships in, the Association des art-thérapeutes du Québec (AATQ), the Canadian Association for Sandplay Therapy (CAST) and the International Kundalini Yoga Teachers Association (IKYTA). She offers individual therapy services, teaching seminars and group workshops in Canada and around the world, where she has also been a guest speaker in various conferences.
